Thursday, 27 May, 7.30pm – 12 midnight

Please come to the half night of prayer as we continue to lift the whole EQUIP SJ initiative back to God. We sense we are called to raise these funds and to deploy them for local and wider mission and we want to cover the whole of EQUIP SJ with prayer.

Venue: St James Church Gerrards Cross

Time: 7.30pm-Midnight

How will it work: There will be one hour slots of prayer and worship focussed on key areas. You could come for half and hour, a whole hour or the whole evening.

7.30-8.00pm	Looking back and thanksgiving
8.00-9.00pm	The re-ordering & working groups
9.00- 10.00pm	Love Africa Giving thanks and looking ahead
10.00-11.00pm	Transformational Mission Partners and the EQUIP SJ Steering Group. Thanksgiving for P2K projects
11.00-midnight	Prayers for our community and our ministry and vision as church with some time for listening to God

You are welcome to attend for as much or as little time as you can.

On Thursday, 27th May, we will hold a prayer vigil in St James Gerrards Cross from 7.30pm – 12 midnight:

with led prayers at intervals throughout the evening
times of quiet for personal, private prayer

A Mission-Shaped Dream for a Mission-Shaped Church

We have a dream to raise £1 million to equip the church for mission.

From the time the Bishop of Lincoln consecrated St James Fulmer in 1610 and the Reid sisters first conceived of St James in Gerrards Cross in the mid 1800s, God has blessed the two St James over many generations.We are part of such a rich Christian heritage.

Jesus said in Luke 12:48 “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.”

We are called to make disciples.We sense God calling us to take steps of faith to make Christ known in our community, in the nation and in the wider world. God is showing us that our mission field is not just the need we find right on our own doorstep, but also the church in our nation and around the world.

During 2010 we are going to embark on a journey which will be truly formative. A journey to re-order and renovate St James Gerrards Cross to fit it for 21st century worship and mission and, in the same spiritual breath, to partner with churches around the world to equip them for their next step in mission.Those settings may be as far away as India, Africa and South America or as close as Slough.

We have a dream to raise £1 million. Half of that will complete the costs of re-ordering St James Gerrards Cross (in addition to the amount committed to the task through Project 2000). £250,000 will be allocated to ensure that our commitment to people living with HIV/AIDS continues for the next 3-5 years through our Love Africa Programme.The other £250,000 will give us the opportunity to make a lasting difference to some of our partners in mission around the world by enabling them to fund initiatives which would otherwise never have been thought possible.
